Driver arrested after car overturns on A27

A man has been arrested after a collision between two vehicles on the A27, which left a car overturned.

Emergency services, including police, were called to the scene on the Shoreham Bypass at Hangleton at 7.56am on Monday morning (August 9th).

A BMW overturned on the westbound carriageway during a collision with a Mercedes Sprinter van.

Sussex Police reported that the driver of the van had been injured in the collision, but their injuries were not judged to have been serious.

A road closure was put in place before the Southwick Tunnel, at the junction with the A293 Hangleton Link.

The carriageway has since reopened and officers have thanked motorists for their patience while the incident was being dealt with.

A driver has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and drug driving.
