Driver airlifted to hospital following A259 crash

Police closed the stretch at Rustington for several hours on Thursday (May 13th)

A driver has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after a car crashed into a railway barrier in Rustington.

The incident occurred on the A259 between the junctions of Mill Lane and The Body Shop roundabout around 5.08pm on Thursday (May 13th).

The man driving the blue BMW car involved in the incident was taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton by air ambulance, suffering with serious injuries.

No other vehicles were involved.

The road was closed for several hours during the rush hour but had re-opened as of Friday morning.

Anyone who saw what happened or who witnessed the vehicle being driven in the area immediately before the crash – or anyone with dash cam or any other footage – is asked to come forward.
