Deaths investigation at Royal Sussex County Hospital expanded
Sussex Police said it is "assessing allegations" of medical negligence
An investigation into the deaths of patients at a hospital in Brighton is being expanded to include more recent cases.
Detectives previously said they were looking into allegations of medical negligence at the Royal Sussex County Hospital between 2015 and 2020.
The timeframe has been extended to include 2021.
A statement from Sussex Police said: "Enquiries are at an early stage and this does not necessarily mean this will lead to criminal prosecution.
"The concerns raised relate to neurosurgery and general surgery in a period between 2015- 2021.
"We are working closely with partner agencies and the hospital trust is co-operating fully with our review.
"The investigation is looking at both patient deaths and incidents of serious harm."
