Crawley man jailed for unprovoked attack on dog walker
The victim was punched several times in the face
A man has been jailed after punching a dog walker in an unprovoked attack in Crawley.
The victim, a local man in his 50s, bumped into a friend in Waterlea on January 15th earlier this year but when they stopped to chat, Callum Beale approached them and ordered them to leave the area.
An argument broke out before Beale assaulted the victim a number of times, causing facial injuries.
The 26-year-old, of Greenacres, was arrested and charged shortly after on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, which he denied.
He claimed self-defence, saying the victim held him in a headlock, but witness accounts didn’t match his.
Beale was fined and sentenced to more than two years in prison.
