Crawley man charged with attempted murder

A man from Crawley has been charged following a stabbing earlier this month.

Officers found a woman with life threatening injuries in a property in Midhurst Close at around 3.30pm on the 1st of May.

Abdul-Malik Neal, 39, of Midhurst Close, was arrested and subsequently charged with attempted murder.

Detective Inspector Kelly Lewis said: “This was a violent attack that left a woman fighting for her life.

“We are pleased to have a suspect remanded in custody and I would like to reassure the public that this appears to be an isolated incident, with no wider threat to the community.

“We will continue to react swiftly and proactively to any reports of violence and will now look ahead to the forthcoming judicial process.”

Neal will appear before Lewes Crown Court on the 31st of May.
