The total number of coronavirus deaths at a West Sussex hospital trust has passed 200, with another five being confirmed over the weekend.

The patients in the care of the Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust at the time of their deaths, all of which were recorded on Thursday (January 7th) and first included in NHS England's figures on Saturday (January 9th).

It brings the total number of deaths recorded at the trust since the start of the pandemic to 201, with 36 of those taking place since the start of last week.

The trust runs St Richard's Hospital in Chichester, Worthing Hospital and Southlands Hospital in Shoreham.

In addition, a further two deaths was recorded at the Sussex Community NHS Trust, which runs community health services across West Sussex, Brighton and Hove and part of East Sussex.
