Copthorne: Two seriously injured after being hit by van

Two people are in hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a van in Copthorne.

The man and woman were knocked down on Copthorne Bank on Saturday.

A Sussex Police spokesperson said: "A grey Vauxhall Vivaro van was travelling southbound on Copthorne Bank on a right-hand bend, near to Francis Court Care Home, when the incident occurred about 9.55am on 18 May.

"The pedestrians – a 77-year-old local man and a 68-year-old local woman – were both taken to hospital for treatment where they remain in a stable condition.

"The driver of the van, an 80-year-old man from Horley in Surrey, was uninjured."
