A series of webinars about climate change in the South Downs National Park gets underway this week.

The first of three is being held on Wednesday evening (27 October) and will discuss Emissions and Pollution from Transport.

It's running from 6pm to 7.30pm and will give members of the public an opportunity to find out what's being done to combat climate change in the local area.

Vic Ient, Volunteer Organiser of the South Downs Network said: "These webinars are really timed to be in the beginning of the COP26 Climate Change Conference in Glasgow. I think it's very important now and our organisation thinks it's very important that local organisations also work on the same principle. We don't just leave it to the leaders to blah blah blah as Greta Thunberg said.

"We do want people to be involved. We do want people to ask questions. We want people to make suggestions and we're trying to up the interest level in the whole subject of climate change. You know, if I were to talk about Brighton and Hove Albion or something like that I would automatically get loads of people involved and they’d love it, but this is really important to everybody and we can do something about it.

"We can change the way we conduct our lives. We can influence the people in power, the councillors and MPs, and I think that's a really important output that we want to achieve".

The other webinars on Climate Change, Global Warming & Pollution and their effects on Nature & Wildlife and Sustainable Living are happening on Tuesday and Wednesday next week (2/3 November).
