Bus driver alert leads to arrest after suspected attempted rape in Brighton
A 32-year-old man from Brighton has been arrested after a woman reported an attack near North Street
A 32-year-old man from Brighton has been arrested on suspicion of attempted rape after a woman told a bus driver she had been attacked near North Street in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Police say the incident was reported shortly after midnight on Sunday 29 June.
A bus driver in Old Steine contacted officers after a woman on board said a man had attempted to rape her in a nearby alleyway.
The man boarded the bus and left the area soon after.
On Monday 1 July, Sussex Police released a CCTV image of a man they wanted to identify in connection with the incident.
A police spokesperson said: “A 32-year-old man from Brighton has been arrested on suspicion of attempted rape. He has been bailed while enquiries continue.”
