A Brighton man's running 12 marathons in 12 days in memory of his best friend and a former Team GB athlete.

Jack Evans is four days into running the 26.2 mile route in Walton on Thames to continue the legacy of Robbie Fitzgibbon, who passed away in October last year.

He's hoping to raise money and awareness for mental health charity Grassroots Suicide Prevention.

Jack told Greatest Hits Radio that pair had been friends since being sat next to each other in school age 11:

"His name's Fitzgibbon, my name's Evan, so we've got sat next to each other naturally.

"He's just infectious.

"I remember his funeral, and everyone was just saying about this smile he had.

"It's one of those smiles you can picture. He was just a bundle of energy."

Jack continued that he chose to take on the challenge to honour Robbie's legacy:

"He was really, really keen on giving back to the people that helped him with his mental health issues.

"I just thought that this was the perfect way to help his legacy carry on because he was so, so keen on helping as many people as he could.

"And so I was like, I'm going to find a way to carry on that in his memory."

He's also got a charity football match planned in the future, putting Grassroots Suicide Prevention up against mental health charity Mind, with the proceeds being split between the two.

"I hpe I can help amazing charities like this for all of my life because they're such a worthwhile cause.

"It's so important to to give them not just funds but also awareness to get people talking about issues rather than just keeping them bottled up.

"If that helps one person, then I'm happy."
