Brighton fans heading to Wembley for tomorrow's FA Cup semi-final are being told to expect longer journeys because of engineering work on the rails.

It means there will be amended timetables for journeys into London, while buses are replacing services between Littlehampton and Brighton this weekend.

Network Rail has apologised - stating the works were planned years in advance.

A statement on Brighton and Hove Albion's website said: "Because of Network Rail engineering work, replacement buses will be running between Brighton and Littlehampton all weekend.

"If you’re travelling to the match, please allow yourself plenty of extra time for your journey as services will be busy, and there may be queues for the replacement buses and connecting trains from Brighton station up to London.

"There is also engineering work taking place on the Thameslink route meaning there are no trains between London Bridge and St Pancras International. But you can still get to Wembley by using Southern trains to Victoria or Southern or Thameslink services to London Bridge and then changing onto London Underground services.
