Biggest rail strike of the year to cause major disruption across Sussex
It will be the start of three days of action this month
There will be almost no trains running across Sussex tomorrow (Saturday, 1st) due to the biggest rail strike of the year.
Southeastern Railway will have no services, while Southern says it will be running a limited timetable between Brighton, Gatwick Airport and London.
Disruption is also expected for runners travelling to the London Marathon on Sunday.
Southeastern's Operations and Safety Director, Scott Brightwell, said: "We'd like to apologise to customers for the disruption that it causes to their lives.
"There are a series of strikes on the 1st, 5th and 8th of October, however, it's not just those dates that get impacted.
"There will also be later start-ups on the days following, and this is especially important as a result of the London Marathon on the 2nd of October, so I would like to ask people to make sure they check the website for information around how it can impact their journey.
Train drivers from union ASLEF and members of the RMT Union are walking out for three days this month in a dispute over pay and job security.
