People are being told to 'be prepared' in Lower Arun as a flood alert is issued.

The Environment Agency has warned the River Arun in Pulborough is "high and still slowly rising", following Storm Bella's rain on Sunday.

Minor flooding could affect the A29 at Pulborough today (29 December).

The Environment Agency has warned:

"Water will be extensive through fields and could affect gardens and approach properties on Lower Street and Swan Corner, Pulborough, near to Swan Bridge, and Bridge Cottages, Greatham.

"Although high, we do not expect properties in Amberley or Arundel to flood."

Although today's forecast is largely dry across the area, the tides along with Monday's rain will "keep river levels at Pulborough high until Wednesday".

If the weather forecast for Wednesday and Thursday is warm enough for rain, property flooding in Pulborough could also be possible by Friday.

The Environment Agency has said "flood protection products are recommended to be installed in Pulborough as a precaution, if you have them".

They are also running their pumps in the area to help reduce flood risk.
