Attempted murder arrest after woman seriously injured in Worthing

Police have detained a man under the Mental Health Act

A man has been charged with attempted murder following an attack on a woman in Worthing on Sunday (January 31st).

Police were called to reports of a woman being assaulted at an address in Littlehampton Road at 11.45pm.

The victim suffered serious injuries in the incident and was taken to hospital.

Officers detained 59-year-old Gary Mallon, of Littlehampton Road, under the Mental Health Act.

He appeared before Worthing Magistrates' Court on Tuesday (February 2nd) charged with attempted murder and causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

Mallon will appear at Lewes Crown Court on March 2nd.
