An appeal for witnesses is being made after an unprovoked attack left a 13-year-old boy with cuts to his head.

It happened in Chichester at around 11.15am on Thursday (June 16).

The boy was sat on a wall in Basin Road, near Chichester Police Station, when another boy struck him with a blade, believed to be wrapped in tape.

The attacker then ran off in a westerly direction.

The victim then went to school, where his injuries were treated, his parents were called, and the attack was later reported to police.

A boy has been arrested and released on bail until Monday July 11.
