Two people have been arrested after a car was intentionally driven into people and other vehicles in West Sussex.

Emergency services were called to Walberton, Yapton, on Saturday morning, January 21st, after the black Audi Q7 was in a collision with several cars.

It was later found burned out in a field in Findon that evening.

A 49-year-old man, of no fixed address, and a 36-year-old woman, from Walberton, were arrested shortly after.

Both suspects remain in custody where they are being questioned on suspicion of a number of separate offences, including criminal damage, dangerous driving and the cultivation of cannabis.

Detective Chief Inspector Jo Grantham said: “Yesterday’s reckless incidents posed a serious threat to the public over a wide geographical area, resulting in a significant police operation.

“Thanks to the assistance from our colleagues in the fire service, we have been able to identify two suspects and safely bring them into custody.

“I would like to commend all of the officers and staff involved for their response to what was a challenging series of events.”
