Arrest after man 'spiked and assaulted' in Brighton

Police say the alleged incident happened outside a shop last month

Police have made an arrest following reports of a man being spiked and then assaulted in Brighton.

The victim told officers he had been attacked outside of a shop in Western Road, near Clarence Square, between 7pm and 8pm on June 27th.

A 40-year-old man from Brighton has been questioned on suspicion of false imprisonment, administering a noxious substance, and assault.

He has since been bailed while police continue investigations.

A Sussex Police spokesperson said:

"There are believed to have been many witnesses to the incident, and we urge anyone who saw what happened or has footage of the area to contact police.
