Dramatic CCTV footage shows the moment a group of masked men barged into a shop in Shoreham and was fought off by the shop assistant.

Samuel Brown has been jailed after he assaulted a member of staff and wrenched the till from the counter. But one thing the robbers did not anticipate, was that the member of staff would fight back.

The member of staff bravely fought Mr. Brown off and called for support from her relative.

In the footage you can see the shop assistants' relative chase down the robbers and tackle them to the ground in a local garden.

The 32-year-old robber, of Stoney Lane, Shoreham, was arrested and charged with robbery and two counts of assault. He pleaded guilty and will serve 49 months in prison.

Investigating officer Richard Emmett said: “I have to commend the courage of the three victims involved in this case, who put themselves in harms way in order to detain the defendant and help bring him to justice.

“Robbery is an extremely serious offence which comes with serious consequences, and Brown now faces a lengthy period behind bars for his actions.”
