An 11-year-old boy has been taken to hospital with potentially life-changing injuries following a shooting in East Sussex.
Police have made an arrest after the incident in woodland near Catsfield at around 11am on Thursday morning (August 31st).
Sussex Police say a shotgun was discharged while the youngster was with a group of adults taking part in a rough shoot.
He was airlifted to hospital in London with a wound to his hip.
Rough shooting involves using specially trained dogs to flush out game - such as grouse and rabbit - from hedgerows and woods.
It is the most common method of live quarry shooting in the UK, according to the British Association for Shooting and Conservation.
A 54-year-old man from Nottinghamshire was arrested at the scene on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.
