Who are the famous faces of West Sussex? We take a look at the biggest celebrities who’ve spent time in the best county.
Hugh Bonneville
The Downton and Paddington star has lived in West Sussex for over 40 years and in 2019 was even appointed the Deputy Lieutenant of West Sussex.
Tim Peake
Peake was born in Chichester and later studied at Chichester High School for Boys. He became the first British astronaut for the European Space Agency in 2015 and in 2016 he was the first Brit to spacewalk outside of the International Space Station.
Gwendoline Christie
AKA Brienne of Tarth in Game of Thrones and also known for her role as Captain Phasma in Star Wars. Gwendoline was born in Worthing before moving to East Sussex and working in a boutique in Brighton.
Billy Idol
Billy Idol has lived in a lot of places but that includes the latter part of his education at Worthing High School for Boys. He later studied English at Sussex University, but dropped out after his first year to pursue all things punk.
Leo Sayer
Sayer was born in Shoreham-by-Sea where he attended St Peter's Catholic Primary School, before studying graphic design at West Sussex College of Art and Design. He went on to score six top-10 albums and eleven top-10 singles. He now lives in Australia.
Simon Mayo
Our very own Simon Mayo has even been a West Sussex resident. He moved to Worthing from the West Midlands and studied at Worthing Sixth form.
