Woman taken to Frimley Park after suffering burns in Aldershot van explosion

A woman has been taken to hospital after a van exploded in Aldershot.

It happened in White Road this morning (22 September) shortly before 8am.

Firefighters believe it was caused by a leaking gas cylinder.

The woman suffered burns and was treated at the scene before being transferred to Frimley Park.

A spokesperson for South East Coast Ambulance Service said: “Ambulance crews attended the scene and one patient, suffering from burns, was assessed and treated at the scene before being taken to Frimley Park Hospital.

“We would like to thank everyone who came to the aid of the person prior to our arrival.”

In a statement, Hampshire Fire and rescue added: “Firefighters from Rushmoor were called to White Road, Aldershot, this morning at 07:50 today after a van exploded due to a leaking gas cylinder.

“One hose reel was used to extinguish a small fire and the vehicle was made safe.

“Stop message was received at 08:22.”
