A woman is raising money for the Chemotherapy ward at a hospital in Surrey as a thank you for them treating her.

Katie Mayne has had breast cancer twice and was treated on the Chilworth Ward at the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford.

A fundraising event is taking place at Surrey Sports Park on Saturday 8th February - and up to 300 dancers can take part in the eighties themed dance workout. Around 100 people can also spectate, with a party taking place afterwards.

Katie said: "I just wanted to give back and at the moment I'm feeling well and strong. This is a thank you to the hardworking and it's also to raise funds for the patients to enhance their experience.

"Just to make an unpleasant experience maybe a bit nicer for them."

Katie also explained what the money raised will be going towards.

"For the staff it's little things like a coffee machine to keep them going. For the patients it's things like the radios for relaxing music, or the massage pads, heat pads, or something called aroma sticks - they're anti anxiety and anti nausea.

"The staff are there for you in your hour of need and this is something back for them."

"All those little things will make a big difference."
