Woman left lying on the ground with serious injuries in Guildford robbery

A woman has been seriously injured after she was attacked in Guildford.

She was repeatedly punched in the face and left on the ground as a man stole her rucksack.

It happened as she was walking home at around 1am this morning (1 October), when she was approached at the junction of Guildford Park Avenue and Guildford Road.

The suspect is described as around 5ft 7” tall, of slim build and wearing dark clothing. The rucksack he stole from the victim is black with red and green flowers on it.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to the incident and it is thought the suspect fled in the direction of Yorkies Bridge.

The victim was treated in hospital for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

A 28-year-old man from Guildford is in custody having been arrested at his home on suspicion of robbery and assault.
