Woman in 80's killed following fatal collision in Cranleigh

A man in his 80s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries, where he remains.

Surrey police are further appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision in Cranleigh on Saturday (11 October).

Officers were called to the bridge over the Downs Link on Elmbridge Road in Cranleigh at around 9.38pm following reports of a collision involving three vehicles.

A woman in her 80s, who was a passenger in one of the vehicles, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of that vehicle, a man in his 80s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of a second vehicle, a man in his 30s, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

The occupants of the third vehicle were given medical treatment at the scene.

Enquiries are ongoing, and officers are particularly keen to trace the movements of a blue VW Golf R.
