Woking sack manager Darren Sarll
The 40 year old leaves with the side 14th in the table.
Woking Football Club have announced that they've relieved manager Darren Sarll of his duties "with immediate effect".
The 40 year old was appointed back in March 2022, and leaves two days after the Surrey side lost 3-2 to Oxford City.
In a statement published on their website, Woking thanked Sarll for "one of the Club’s most successful seasons in recent history" and wished him well for the future.
They also confirmed that Assistant Manager Ian Dyer would take charge of upcoming games against Oldham and Chesterfield.
Analysis:
There's been highs and lows in Darren Sarll's twenty month reign.
The 40 year old led Woking to one of their greatest seasons in recent history by securing a play-off place last campaign. In that season, Woking also did the double over local rivals Aldershot, a 2-1 win in East Hampshire and a particularly memorable 4-1 win in Surrey on New Year's Day.
Yet the Surrey side have struggled this time around. Lots of new signings have come through the door, and Sarll has also had plenty of injuries to contend with.
They have just one win in their last six league games and have only won twice at home all season - but perhaps the final straw was Woking's last two games. A seriously disappointing loss in the FA Cup to Ramsgate who are two divisions below the Surrey side, followed by a league loss to struggling Oxford City.
It was perhaps an underwhelming end to Sarll's tenure, yet the manager will be remembered fondly at The Laithwaite Community Stadium for his successes, and the run to the play offs last season will stay in the memory of many Woking fans for years to come.
