He has been convicted following a trial at the Old Bailey.
A Woking man has been found guilty of murdering his 86-year-old mother at their family home.
Police found the body of Angela Tarver at her house in Julian Close in the town on 19 December last year.
Following a four week trial at the Old Bailey her son - 47-year-old Philip Tarver, who lived at the address - has today (5 October) been convicted of her murder.
Tarver was arrested at the scene in 2019 and detained under Section 2 of the Mental Health Act.
He was later charged with Angela’s murder and threats to kill and is set to be sentenced on Thursday (8 October).
Detective Inspector Chris Rambour from the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team said: “Our thoughts remain with Angela’s friends and family at this time who have been left devastated by her death.
"I hope that the verdict reached today will bring them some form of closure and allow them to begin to move on with their lives.
“I would like to thank all those who gave evidence, as well as the investigating team, whose contribution ensured that Philip Tarver has been brought to justice for Angela’s death.”
