Woking FC have revealed their retained and released list of players at the end of the 2022/23 season.

Manager Darren Sarll has confirmed the retention of nine players, with five more being offered the chance to stay beyond this summer.

Four players will leave the club and six will return to their parent clubs after loan spells.

Players who have already signed new contracts include captain Josh Casey, centre back Scott Cuthbert and both Padraig Amond and Jim Kellerman, who won the Supporters' Player of the Season and Players' Player of the season respectively. Dan Moss, who was named Woking's Young Player of the Season, has also signed a new contract.

Other retained players include Rhys Browne, Reece Grego-Cox, Ricky Korboa and Luke Wilkinson.

Five more players have been offered contracts. Rohan Ince, who featured in 46 matches during the 22/23 league campaign, has been offered a deal, alongside James Daly, Kyran Lofthouse and Jermaine Anderson. Will Jaaskelainen, who signed for Woking in 2023 and became the Cardinals' number one choice goalkeeper towards the end of the season, has also been offered the chance to stay.

Four players will leave Woking this summer, having not been offered contracts. Experienced goalkeeper Craig Ross, who's made 173 appearances for Woking, will leave the club alongside Tyreke Johnson and Kacper Lopata, who signed from Southend this year.

Joe McNerney will also leave Woking, with his second spell in Surrey coming to an end. McNerney previously played for Woking from 2008-2015, before returning to the club in 2021.

A number of players will also see their loan spells at The Laithwaite Community Stadium come to end . Marcus Dackers, Billy Sass-Davies, Solomon Nwabuokei, Jake Hessenthaler, Charlie Wakefield and Charlie O'Connell will all return to their parent clubs.

Analysis:

In an interview back in March, Darren Sarll told me that he preferred to work with a smaller squad of players, and Woking have agreed contracts with some of their best players who make up the core of the team.

The likes of Scott Cuthbert, Jim Kellerman, Padraig Amond and Josh Casey were all vital to Woking's impressive run to the play-offs in the 22/23 season, and will be crucial to any promotion push in the next campaign.

There are a couple of contracts that still need to be sorted - Woking fans will be hoping for the likes of James Daly and Rohan Ince to stay on, particularly with the latter featuring in every league game this season.

With 10 players confirmed to be leaving the club, Woking will of course need to act in the summer to replenish the squad, but fans can be happy that so many pivotal players have extended their contracts.
