Surrey Police are asking for witnesses to come forward following yesterday's demonstrations on the M25.

They were called to junction 6 at Godstone and junction 14 at Heathrow just after 8am on Tuesday (13 September) to reports of several people from the group Insulate Britain protesting on the motorway.

In total 35 people were arrested on suspicion of various offences, including public nuisance, obstructing the highway and conspiracy to cause danger to road users.

15 have been released on conditional bail while the rest have been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

Officers now want to speak to anyone who saw the incident, or who has dashcam footage, to contact them.

Detective Inspector Chris Friday said: “The M25 was closed at junction 6 and Junction 14, resulting in congestion and considerable delays for motorists.

“Protestors ignored police requests to move on, so we took robust action to enable the motorway to be reopened and to remove those causing obstructions.

“A number of people were taken into custody and enquiries are progressing.

However, we would like to appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any dashcam footage to come forward as you may be able to help us progress our investigation.”

“We would also like to thank all those motorists who got caught up in the delays while we dealt with the incident to ensure it was brought to a safe and satisfactory conclusion."
