Heavy rain set to batter Surrey and East Hampshire

A yellow alert is in place for all of Surrey and East Hampshire with heavy rain, wind and thunder forecast,

The Met Office has issued the warning which comes into effect from 4pm today through to 3am tomorrow (21 October).

It warns of disruption to travel, with bus and train services taking longer, flooding on roads and flooding of a few homes and businesses.

We could also get some interruption to power supplies and other services.

The Met Office forecast in full: "An area of heavy rain reaching southwest England late Wednesday afternoon spreads eastwards across southern England, reaching the far southeast of England by mid-evening.

"Rain will last for around six hours in any location, finally clearing southeast England during the early hours of Thursday.

"Rain may be accompanied by coastal gales and, in a few places, thunder.

"15 to 25 mm of rain is widely expected with 30 to 50 mm possible in a few places."
