With the temperature starting to drop, households are under increasing pressure to switch on the heating. But with the cost-of-living crisis upon us, getting warm comes at a significant price. However, Woking Council is offering an escape from the freezing conditions.

They have opened their doors at a plethora of locations throughout the borough, giving the public some much-needed support. Not only does it give them an opportunity to save on energy bills, but it also provides them with a chance to ask for advice.

The Warm Hubs offer a save and welcoming space for families to connect with individuals going through the same problem. In addition, entertainment is taken care of for the children, and you can tuck into a warm snack in the cafe.

Furthermore, Woking Borough Council's four community centres, located in Sheerwater, Knaphill, Byfleet and Westfield are open weekdays (excluding bank holidays), from 9 Am-3 PM, The welcoming facilities offer low-cost teas and coffee, free Wi-Fi, a range of wellbeing activities and designated workspaces for the public to utilise to their heart's content.

Cllr Ellen Nicholson, Woking Borough Council’s Portfolio Holder for Living Well, said: "The months ahead will be difficult for many of us as we navigate this cost-of-living crisis. We are committed to supporting Woking residents in any which way we can to ease the pressure to those effected most.

“In addition to our four centres for the community, I’m proud that Woking has the highest number of warm hubs in Surrey thanks to the support of those venues. I warmly welcome anyone who would benefit to pop in and take advantage of these warm hubs.

“It is also a great chance to connect with others in your communities in these difficult times whilst getting advice and support on your financial situation too.”
