Vigils took place across the country last night (February 15) to commemorate Brianna Ghey, with vigils taking place in both Woking and Guildford.

Ghey, 16, was stabbed to death on Saturday.

A crowd of around 40-50 people gathered at the Pride Hub, based in Woking, to pay their respects. Tributes included people tying red ribbons on a tree outside the hub, laying flowers, writing messages, and holding candles.

The songs 'True Colours' and 'Stand by Me' were also sung.

"It's great to see so many people coming here to support. It shows we are truly a community."

Stephen Ireland, who runs the Pride Hub in Woking, said that "We're meeting for the vigil to celebrate the life of such an amazing trans individual, Brianna.

"And of course recognising that she went through a horrific time."

A number of people from in and around Surrey took part in the Woking vigil. Christine attended the vigil, saying "It's absolutely devastating that anyone loses their life in this manner at all."

Another person who took part in the vigil, Abe, said that "It's great to see so many people coming here to support. It shows we are truly a community."
