Police in Surrey have arrested a van driver for being three times over the breath test limit.

They gave a roadside reading of 111 - the drink drive limit is 35 micrograms per 100 millilitres of breath.

Despite the front wheel of the van being in a very bad condition, they drove along the A31 for "quite some distance" before they could not go any further.

On Twitter, the Surrey Road Policing Unit said: "The driver of this van had driven for quite some distance along the A31 with the wheel in this condition before it would not go any further!

"The driver gave a roadside reading of 111 and so was arrested.

"They were taken to hospital where a blood sample was obtained."
