Two further people have been arrested after a serious assault in Tongham - as the victim remains in a serious condition.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident on Friday night (15 October) near the Cricketers pub, which saw a person admitted to hospital with stab wounds at around 9:35pm.

The assault is believed to have taken place in an alleyway.

Officers are continuing to search the area.

A 34-year-old man from Ash Vale and a 50-year-old woman from Guildford were arrested on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm with intent and have been released on conditional bail.

Police have also arrested a 37-year-old man from Guildford and a 33-year-old woman from Guildford in connection with the incident and they remain in custody.

Detective Inspector Jo Horner, who is leading the investigation, said: “A number of enquiries remain ongoing and there is still a visible police presence in the Tongham area.

"We would like to reassure the local community that we are doing everything we can to secure evidence and ensure that the offenders are brought to justice.

"We would also like to stress that we believe the offenders and victim were known to each other, and that this was not an isolated incident.

“We are still appealing for witnesses, particularly anyone who may have been driving past at the time and has any dashcam footage of the incident, to come forward as soon as possible, as this could be extremely helpful to our investigation.”
