The family of a woman who was found dead in her home in Ash has paid tribute to her.

Joy Boulton was found inside a property in Church View by police officers on 11 May.

The 59 year old had died from a head injury.

61 year old Sara MacKenzie from Ash, has been charged with Ms Boulton's murder.

Joy’s family has today paid tribute to her, saying:

“The family are deeply devastated by this senseless act of violence which has changed our lives forever. Joy was a good pupil at school and had many friends many of whom she kept in touch with.

“When she left school, she continued with her education doing various courses from advancing her typing skills to book-keeping and accountancy.

“Joy cared for our parents when they both became ill. She was a very caring person. Joy was always ready to help other people whenever she could despite having many health and mobility problems herself. She fought many health problems over the years but always battled on.

“Joy will be sadly missed and never forgotten. All the family wish to thank everybody for their kind thoughts and support at this difficult time.”

Joy’s fiancé said,

“After having known Joy for over 20 years but losing contact, we met again around two years ago when she found me. It was the happiest time of my life being with Joy, until she was taken through this dreadful crime.

"Joy was a truly wonderful and kind woman - you’ll always be in my heart.”

Other members of Joy’s family added;

“A vulnerable lady, and a busy person who thought to help others. Joy was a great, fun character.

“Taken from your sister, nieces, nephews, great nephews and great nieces. You did not deserve this.

“Joy worked in Potters Instrument Shop in Aldershot for over 25 years. She fought for her life in the Intensive Care Unit a few years ago and bounced back.

“You will be forever missed and always loved. May you rest in peace with our Mum/Nan.”
