Three men have been sentenced for their involvement in an assault that left a 16-year-old boy with serious injuries in Whyteleafe earlier this year.

The sentencing took place at Guildford Crown Court on Tuesday, 18th November.

Fabion Parnell, 26, from Coulsdon, was sentenced to eight years and three months in prison. He had pled guilty to attempted grievous bodily harm, dangerous driving, and driving whilst disqualified.

Harvey Manley, 22, from Croydon, received a three year and nine-month sentence after admitting to robbery and affray. However, he was released at court due to time already spent in custody after his arrest in March 2024.

Adrian Rozpara, 21, also from Croydon, was given a two-year suspended sentence and community work requirement, having pled guilty to threatening a person with an offensive weapon in a public place and affray.

A fourth man involved, Machas Tuzizila, 29, was sentenced earlier on 27th September last year at Guildford Crown Court. Tuzizila, from Croydon, had pled guilty to possession of an offensive weapon and handling stolen goods, receiving a sentence of 10 months in prison for his role in the attack.

The assault took place during the early hours of 9th March 2024 near Godstone Road, where two 16-year-old boys were approached by a group of males carrying weapons.

One member of the group, Rozpara, was seen holding a one-metre-long samurai sword, shouting at one of the boys, while Tuzizila also brandished a weapon.

One of the victims attempted to escape on his moped but was struck by a car driven by Parnell. The victim was dragged along the road and run over again before Parnell fled the scene.

Manley then approached the injured boy, punching and kicking him repeatedly and leaving him unconscious. Tuzizila tried to intervene before Manley took the victim’s coat and left.

All four men were arrested following a joint effort between Surrey Police and the Metropolitan Police. Manley was detained within two days, with Parnell and Tuzizila arrested in April 2024. Rozpara was later identified and arrested in Croydon. Each of the men was charged on the day of their arrest.

Detective Constable Blackford from the Criminal Investigations Department said: “This unprovoked, violent and sustained attack against two 16-year-old boys could have had fatal consequences.

"Our investigation has been complex and involved several units and colleagues from across two forces. Thanks to these collective efforts, all four men have been put before the courts to face justice."
