Friends of a Surrey teenager who was fatally stabbed in Sussex last month have raised nearly £20,000 for charity in his memory.
17 year old Charlie 'Cheeks' Cosser from Milford was stabbed in the early hours of Sunday 22nd July and passed away in hospital the following Tuesday (25 July).
Nearly 900 people have donated to the fundraiser and the money will go to the anti knife crime charity Lives not Knives
Charlie's friends posted a statement on their GoFundMe page saying they do not wish for his death to be vain and they will strive each and every day to make him proud:
"To each and all of his friends and family, Charlie was always making us all laugh at any given moment, something that few people are able to do.
"He loved going out with his friends and was very keen on his football. We do not wish for Charlie’s death to be in vain, and we will all strive each and every day to make him proud.
"We will all cherish the fond memories we have of him forever.
"We all find comfort in knowing that he will watch over us from the highest spot in heaven.
I ask to whoever it may concern, I plead with you to think twice before carrying a knife, as the consequences will be devastating before you even realise what you have caused.
"You not only ruin the victims life as well as their friends and family, but also yours.
"Charlie’s bright presence and aura has been cruelly robbed from us all as a result of this."
The fundraiser's goal was initially £1,000 but donations have flooded in with comments of sympathy and support:
"Charlie sounds like a lovely young man with wonderful friends. Please use this money well in his memory and help to make this world a better place."
"Such a waste of life, please help Charlie’s and all those who’s lives have been taken by knife crime to make a difference.
"No-one should go through the damage that knife crime inflicts. The more we can support a positive, respectful attitude for our future generations, the better things will be."
