The Mayor's Charity Football Tournament will be held on the 2nd of June at Stoughton Recreation Ground - alongside plenty of fun for all the family.
The tournament, sponsored by Martin Grant Homes, aims to raise funds for the Mayor of Guildford’s charity of the year, The Fountain Centre.
Organisers are inviting teams from all walks of life to sign up for this inclusive six-a-side adult tournament. Mens, womens and walking football teams are all encouraged to register and compete for the prestigious Mayor’s Cup and Mayor’s Plate.
To ensure a diverse event, squads of up to ten players are welcome to join the competition. Teams are encouraged to secure their spot early to avoid disappointment. Registration is now open.
The event kicks off at 10am at Stoughton Recreation Ground, the home of Guildford City Boys and Girls FC. It will culminate with the champion’s ceremony, finishing at 3pm.
This event is about more than just football. It's a celebration of community. Alongside the exhilarating matches, family and friends can enjoy a range of family friendly activities.
• Chelsea FC Foundation will be on hand to take budding footballers through their paces
• Climb aboard a fire engine and chat with Surrey Fire and Rescue firefighters
• For kids bursting with energy there’ll be a bouncy castle
• Creative face painting
The money raised will help the Fountain Centre continue supporting cancer patients and their loved ones through a cancer diagnosis.
The Mayor of Guildford, Cllr Masuk Miah said:
"This tournament not only provides an opportunity for friendly competition, but it also allows us to come together as a community and make a positive impact for a great cause."
“Even if football's not your game, there's something for everyone to enjoy. The festivities will also include a mouth-watering BBQ, delicious Indian food, and a beer tent offering a selection of beverages.”
"I’m so grateful to Guildford City Boys and Girls FC for hosting the tournament and Martin Grant Homes for its generous sponsorship of the whole event."
