Surrey Storm will not be part of the relaunched Netball Super League, and will play their final elite game on Saturday.

Guildford-based Storm are not among the eight teams announced as part of the competition's relaunch in 2025.

Dubbed 'WSL 2.0', organisers hope this will mark a "significant step towards professionalism."

But Surrey Storm will not be part of this, with the club writing on their website that the "new operating standards for clubs made it unfeasible" for them to be part of the relaunch.

The club adds that it's pathway programme will continue until 1 September, and that they are working with English Netball and the Netball Players Association to support players, coaches, as well as their staff and the wider community.

They add they remain committed to "supporting netball and women's sport," and working with the local community "to offer University and grassroots netball."

Storm have won two Super League titles in 2015 and 2016, only one of three sides to win the competition back to home, and have reached the Grand Final five times, including in 2023.

Their final home game against Loughborough Lightning will take place on Saturday at 6pm.

Storm's final ever competitive match will be away at Strathclyde Sirens on Saturday 15 June.

Netball Super League's Managing Director Claire Nelson acknowledged "some really difficult decisions" had to be made, but that these were "necessary to enable us to create a product that is built to last."

"We are proud to stand on the shoulders of all the Clubs that have laid the path before us and we will ensure that we honour their legacy by taking our League and sport to new heights as we move forward into this new era."
