A man in Surrey has been sentenced to eight years and eight months in jail for grievous bodily harm after a stabbing last September.

Steven Morley, who's 46-years-old, reportedly stabbed another man at an address in Fairfax Avenue, Redhill.

Surrey Police say he took a knife from the kitchen, went upstairs and attacked a man in his 50s who was known to him.

Morley was was arrested and charged on the same day, and has pleaded guilty.

The victim was hospitalised but has since recovered.

Detective Sergeant Lee Marks said: “This was a nasty and unprovoked attack by Morley on a defenceless man and officers on the team worked around the clock to ensure we had all the evidence to get him charged and remanded off our streets as quickly as possible.”
