Surrey Police are encouraging residents to use an app called StreetLink to report homelessness, providing that it is not an emergency and that they are over the age of 18.

The app allows users to input the exact location of the person they are concerned about and the last time they were seen.

A local outreach team will then be alerted and go out to the person to provide support.

The message comes as the country heads into winter, a notoriously difficult period of time for people sleeping rough.

For any emergencies or there are concerns for someone under the age of 18 then people are asked to contact the police.
