A Surrey police dog's efforts has helped in a search for a vulnerable missing woman after she ran off while being treated by paramedics.

Police were called to Lion Lane in Haslemere, by South East Coast Ambulance on Sunday night.

They said they were concerned for her safety - she was deemed not to have mental capacity and they were worried that she was at risk harm.

So Zena was put to work, and shortly afterwards she and her handler located the woman wandering barefoot in a nearby wooded area.

She was treated and then taken to hospital.

Zena's handler, PC Hunt, said: "It was raining heavily on the night the vulnerable woman went missing, so we knew her safety was at risk and we needed to find her quickly.

"I was proud of Zena’s determination to work, and how she used her skills in these difficult conditions to find the woman so we could make sure she received the help she needed."
