Surrey Police renew appeal for information on attempted abduction in Addlestone

Surrey Police have issued another appeal for the public's help in identifying a man in connection with an attempted abduction in Addlestone.
Officers were called on Friday 25 June, following reports of an attempted abduction of a girl on the public footpath near Philip Southcote School.
According to the police statement, the young girl was walking alone at around 4:30pm when she was approached by a man who attempted to grab her from over the fence and put his hand over her mouth.
The girl was able to escape before the man fled the scene.
Officers arrived within 10 minutes and completed an extensive area search, but no-one fitting the description was found.
Police say the man is described as White, around 20-30 years old with short, light brown hair, tall and of medium build.
They say he smelt like cigarette smoke and was wearing a dark green jacket, dark blue denim jeans and Nike trainers with a white sole.
Inspector James Wyatt, Borough Commander for Runnymede said:
“We understand that this was a very worrying incident for local residents and it’s something Surrey Police is continuing to take very seriously. We would also like to reassure you that such incidents are extremely rare in Surrey.
“We have been carrying out numerous enquiries to try and identify the suspect. If you witnessed anything, or you have any information which could help, and have not contacted us yet, please do get in touch.”
