Surrey Police appeal for witnesses after body found in River Mole
Surrey Police believe the man had been fishing close to the Stepping Stones area.
People believe that a man whose body was recovered from the River Mole in Box Hill yesterday was fishing.
They're calling for witnesses and particularly want to speak to a man who was in the area who may have helpful information.
The 60 year old man's next of kin have been informed are are being supported by officers.
Although police do not currently believe that his death is suspicious, they are continuing to carry out enquiries to understand the circumstances around his death.
They believe that the man had been fishing close to the Stepping Stones area prior to his death.
Police would like to speak to anyone who was in the area, or driving through and has dashcam footage, between the hours of 8am and 1pm yesterday on the A24, London Road.
In particular, they are looking to speak to a man who was in the area and may have information which could help their enquiries. He is described as around 30-years-old, White, approximately 5ft 10in in height, of slim build with very short dark hair. He wasn’t wearing a top but was wearing dark coloured shorts, trainers and was carrying a dark coloured rucksack with a red fishing rod tied to it. The man was also riding a dark coloured mountain bike and spoke with an accent, possibly Eastern European.
