Surrey woman who made neighbours 'lives a misery' sentenced
A Surrey woman's been sentenced after being found guilty of harassing one of her neighbours.
42 year old Victoria Calzadilla formerly of Fordwater Road, Chertsey, was found guilty of harassment involving fear of violence.
The court heard how Calzadilla began her campaign of harassment in March 2018 when she would regularly bang floors, walls and windows late at night claiming the residents were being too noisy.
She was also alleged to have assaulted the victims and using threatening language.
In a one month period 14 separate incidents were recorded.
The court also heard of the significant impact of Calzadilla’s behaviour on the victim’s mental health and wellbeing.
Calzadilla was first arrested in August 2019 and again in April 2020. She was charged with actual bodily harm and Section 20 grievous bodily harm but was found not guilty of these offences when she appeared in court.
At sentencing, Calzadilla was given a 12-month suspended prison sentence, ordered to complete 80 hours of community service, and given a 5-year restraining order to protect the victim. She was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge.
Detective Constable Daniel Bell, who investigated the case, said:
“I want to praise the victims of this case for their bravery and courage in seeing this through to trial. Their lives have been made a misery by Cazadilla’s behaviour and I hope that the sentence she has received today provides them with some closure and the peace that they deserve.
“Surrey Police takes harassment extremely seriously and I hope this case serves as an example to others to pursue any form of anti-social behaviour and related offences, particularly when it becomes this relentless.”
