Surrey man charged with terror offences

He is due to appear in court tomorrow

A 47-year-old from Surrey has been charged with terror offences.

Asad Bhatti of Holland Close in Redhill has been charged with two counts of possessing an article for the purpose of terrorism, contrary to Section 57 of the Terrorism Act 2000 and three counts of making or possessing an explosive under suspicious circumstances contrary to Section 4 of the Explosive Substances Act.

He has been remanded in custody to appear at Westminster Magistrates Court tomorrow (22 January).

Officers from Counter Terrorism Policing South East said the charges were in connection with a search which took place at a property in Redhill on 8 January.
