Recovering addict from Surrey speaks out about the dangers of gambling online
A man, who's chosen to remain anonymous, shares his experience
A Surrey man recovering from a gambling addiction is speaking out, wanting more people to be aware of just how dangerous and easy to fall into this addiction type can be.
The man speaking to us has chosen to remain anonymous.
He tells us his life got better when going to Gamblers Anonymous, but it took him a long time to come forward, due to the stigma and lack of understanding from his peers.
The anonymous man warns that the rise of technology has enabled gambling addictions to develop and hide in the shadows.
He said: "Gambling addictions are hard to control, hard to get over and needs huge amounts of support.
"Online gambling has allowed for gamblers to become completely secretive and gamble without any fear of getting caught.
"They can be sat in a meeting, sat at home, be anywhere and gamble and that makes it very hard to identify,
"The principle thing that could make a difference is increasing the understanding amongst the general public and society, as well as raising awareness."
