School meal vouchers are being provided to eligible children and young people during the half term holiday in Surrey.

The county council says vouchers worth £15 have been sent out which can be used in most supermarkets and McColls stores.

18,000 youngsters will continue to be supported during this week, with funds from the government's Covid Winter Support Grant.

The council says the funding has so far supported 26,661 households in Surrey since it was announced.

The national free school meals programme only covers term time.

The vouchers have been sent to parents and young people via email or text. Printed vouchers have been provided to parents who cannot access them online.
