With the National League and the National League South getting underway next week, Surrey and East Hampshire's football teams have been working hard to get ready in pre-season.

The new National League season starts on Saturday 5th August, a league with two Surrey sides, Woking and Dorking Wanderers, and one East Hampshire side in Aldershot Town.

The National League South kicks off on the same day, containing Hampshire side Farnborough, who finished in 12th last season.

There is a round of pre-season fixtures left before the season gets started. Tonight, there's a local derby between Farnborough and Dorking Wanderers, with Aldershot Town taking a trip to South London to face Sutton United in a friendly.

Woking will face Havant & Waterlooville tomorrow - before starting their season with an away trip to Kidderminster tomorrow.

Aldershot Town kick off their league campaign at home to Oxford, with Dorking facing a potentially difficult start to the season against last year's play off runners u[p Chesterfield.

Farnborough get their season underway with an away trip to Chelmsford.

How will Surrey and East Hampshire's sides fare this season?

It's probably fair to say that Woking, Dorking and Aldershot Town had very different campaigns last time around.

Surrey side Woking enjoyed an impressive and unexpected run to the play-offs, securing 4th place - although their season ended somewhat underwhelmingly with a home defeat to Bromley.

It was a different story for Aldershot Town however, who endured a more difficult season. Finishing 18th, they were able to steer clear of relegation, and did enjoy a run to the quarter finals of the FA Trophy.

For Dorking Wanderers, it was a season of firsts. The Surrey side were able to secure their status in the fifth tier pretty comfortably after being promoted to the National League for the first time in their history in 2022.

Let's hope the new season provides as much excitement as the last
