Bordon headteacher says it was "really emotional" seeing students for the first time in months
Children and young people have been going back to school this week.
Students across Surrey and East Hampshire have been returning to school this week.
They have been learning from home since schools shut in March because of the coronavirus outbreak.
Schools in Surrey started reopening on Tuesday (1 September) and yesterday (3 September) in Hampshire.
Woodlea Primary School in Whitehill, Bordon, started welcoming children back today (4 September).
Joanna Mumford, headteacher, said it was a "lovely experience":
"We were obviously anxious because we wanted to make sure that all of the measures that we had put in place were going to work.
"Also anxious about how the children were going to feel coming back into school.
"But when we opened the gates and we just saw the children's smiling faces, it just wiped all that anxiety away and it was just such a lovely experience this morning.
"Some of the children we haven't really seen in six months.
"So seeing them and seeing how they'd grown and seeing them in their lovely new school uniforms ready for the new year, it was really, really emotional.
"It was one of those experiences I don't think we'll ever have again because it's not like a normal start to a school year.
"The children, to be honest you would not have known they'd had six months away from us.
"Obviously we know there's going to be some lost learning, but they've all settled.
"They've just embraced it so well and we're really, really proud of each and every one of them."
