Yellow warning for wind issued for Surrey and East Hampshire

It's a wet and windy start to the year with a yellow weather warning for Surrey and East Hampshire.

Most of England and large parts of Wales are expecting heavy rain and strong winds.

The weather warning for strong wind is in place from 8am on Tuesday (2nd January) until 9pm.

The Met Office says a spell of very windy weather, accompanied by heavy rain in places, is likely to cause some travel disruption.

We could have gusts reaching 45 miles per hour in our area.

What to Expect

Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely and damage to trees is possible

It’s likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities will be affected by spray and/or large waves

Probably some bus and train services affected, with some journeys taking longer

Some short term loss of power and other services is possible

Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely
